When I was a kid, this job didn’t exist. At least not like this. I design TTRPGs, produce podcasts, run live improvised fiction shows, and stream games on Twitch. Which sounds straightforward until you try explaining it to your parents. “So… you make up rules for pretending to be a ghost detective on the internet, and sometimes melt down when a fictional character dies in a video game?” Yes. Exactly that. 

It’s improvised storytelling with rules, building worlds to play in, meltdowns over good stories, and frequent public embarrassment. Imagine game design, theatre, and social community, then livestreamed. Somehow, that’s a job now. We even have a book club.
